Dr. Selvin Kumar, a native of South India, Graduated from the University of Kerala with a Post-Graduate Degree in History. He started his teaching career in the Madurai Kamaraj University in 1976 and continued to serve till 1989 as he came to the United States of America. He served for the Embassy of India, produced "India Broadcast" for the DC cable TV and conducted advisory seminars for the JFK Warfare Center, Fort Bragg and edited Alli Tamil magazine. He is the Founder of the International Tamil University, Washington D.C. At present this University is the home of the Madurai Kamaraj University Distance Education Study Center.
Dr. Selvin Kumar is the winner of the AFJA International Literary Excellence Award for the year 2005 for his book on the "Legendary Vera" and the prose-poetry "Great People and Greatest Moments". His recent book "The Gracious Tom Parran: A life of Honor" is an addition to the neighborhood historical writing. He served as the General Manager of the White Sands Corporation, Maryland till the year 2006. Currently he is also the Editor-in-Chief of 'The Maryland Reporter' a quarterly magazine published by the International Tamil University, USA.
